Statement from Building Burlington’s Future on the Establishment of the Chittenden County Community Accountability Court

Building Burlington’s Future applauds Governor Scott, Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak, State’s Attorney Sarah George, Attorney General Charity Clark, and the many state and local partners who came together to launch the Chittenden County Community Accountability Court.

“We’re encouraged to see state and local leaders working together to address one of the most urgent challenges facing our city,” said Sam Donnelly, Executive Director of Building Burlington’s Future. “When government, law enforcement, and community partners align around shared goals, we can create real progress, making Burlington safer without sacrificing our community’s long-held value of compassion at the same time.”

Building Burlington’s Future supports improving safety and the quality of life in Burlington and believes that this will only happen through coordination across all levels of government and the nonprofit community. This new partnership shows what’s possible when we set aside politics and focus on problem-solving. BBF looks forward to supporting this work and continuing to bring residents, businesses, and leaders together to build a safer, stronger Burlington for everyone.
